Mission
The 1st Special Operations Medical Support Squadron (SOMDSS) accomplishes global special operations taskings as an Air Force component member of US Special Operations Command. The unit promotes and maintains health for 15.4K beneficiaries divided amongst 4 groups, 25 squadrons, and 39 partner units. Personnel provide disaster preparedness, TRICARE, patient administration, readiness, information systems, resources, and logistics services.

Constituted 16th Medical Support Squadron on 16 Aug 1994. Activated on 1 Oct 1994. Redesignated 1st Special Operations Medical Support Squadron on 16 Nov 2006.
