1st Special Operations Group, Detachment 1 Also known as the Weapons Instructor Course (WIC), Detachment 1 is a selectively manned unit with a composite mission. Det 1 directly supports special operations commands by conducting special operations, foreign internal defense, and security assistance worldwide in response to National Command Authorities taskings. The detachment also operates the only Air Force Special Operations Weapons School. Responsible to Air Force Special Operations Command, the course is designed to graduate weapons officers in six different aircraft who provide expertise in all aspects of joint combat employment.
