Meet the new 1st SOCONS commander

The 1st Special Operations Contracting Squadron recently welcomed a new commander here. Here is a little information about him.

Name/Rank: Lt. Col. Richard E. Dawson

Organization: 1st Special Operations Contracting Squadron

Hometown: Orlando, Fla.

Off-duty time is for: Being a husband to my beautiful wife and a father to my five children. I also enjoy writing and playing music, appreciating the outdoors, traveling when I can, being involved with church and reading.

Previous Assignments: Air Force Installation Contracting Agency, Operating Location Joint Base Langley-Eustis, VA; HQ Air Combat Command Directorate of Inspector General, Langley AFB, VA; Commander, 380 Expeditionary Contracting Squadron, Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates

Organizational Goals: Provide effective and efficient cradle-to-grave contracting support to meet the needs of wing and tenant units here. We help enable this goal through training and support of our airmen and civilians. Further, we continue to train and equip contingency contracting officers for worldwide deployment.

Work Philosophy: Everyone works for a purpose of some kind. Most of us work toward various goals. Leadership succeeds when people are aligned and motivated to work for the same purpose and the same goals.
