Thirteen months and five days ago, Base officials and Corvias Military Living held a ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the new base housing, here.

Since then, Osprey Landing and Pine Shadows have seen foundation, vertical construction and nearly completed homes.

Bob McDonald, Corvias Military Living director of construction, said that with construction being between 60 to 70 percent completed, they are right on schedule for completion of the first 145 homes by the end of 2015.

Daily, close to 150 contracted-construction workers are on site molding the new image of Hurlburt Field’s housing, a new environment for
Airmen and their families to thrive.

Corvias plans on building a total of 480 new homes to replace the existing homes currently standing here.

The new homes are built to withstand the Florida weather, while saving the Air Force money.

“The houses are built up to current building codes and are dramatically more energy efficient,” said McDonald. “We are really proud of these homes.”

With this project nearing completion, McDonald and Stan Morehead, Corvias Military Living business director, hopes they will be far enough along to begin placing families in homes during the Fall of this year.

“We anticipate being able to show families the new homes at the same time relocations are set to occur,” said Morehead. “We anticipate we will begin moving families into Osprey Landing, senior NCO homes, in the August or September timeframe.”

Relocations to the new addition in Pine Shadows, junior NCO homes, will follow approximately 60 days after Osprey Landing, Morehead added.

Relocations from current inventory to the new homes will be based on the path of demolition which is still undetermined at this time.
