The Air Force Medical Service will once again recognize the innovative accomplishments of individuals and small groups through the annual AFMS Outstanding Achievement in Innovation Award.

Those eligible to compete for the award are AFMS and Air Reserve Component members.

The award program annually recognizes an individual or small group of military and civilians (not organizations) who have made substantial improvements in the quality and productivity of operations through innovative ideas, special acts, and other management initiatives, which resulted in a substantial improvement and/or savings to the Air Force.

AFMS-level individual award winners will receive a personal letter and certificate of recognition signed by the Air Force Surgeon General and are authorized to wear the Air Force Recognition Ribbon (military) or the Air Force Recognition Lapel Pin (civilian), as applicable. Each AFMS-level award winning team will also receive a certificate and letter signed by the AF/SG.

Qualifications and criteria include alignment to one of the AFMS Strategy Areas (Better Care, Better Health, Better Value, Readiness); potential to advance innovation in one or more strategic areas or gaps; different types of applicability (Air Force, Department of Defense, or any other government agency); and success of implementation.

To submit a nomination, email submissions by Dec. 1 to the Chief, AFMS Innovations at USAF Pentagon AF-SG Mailbox SG5P Workflow (usaf.pentagon.af-sg.mbx.sg5p-workflow@mail.mil). Nominations must be submitted in accordance with the format of AF Form 1206 (20 bullets), may be accompanied by an extra page for acronyms, and must be unclassified.
