23rd Special Operations Weather Squadron

Mission

The mission of the 23rd Special Operations Weather Squadron is to inject timely, accurate and tailored weather analysis into planning and execution phases of deployed, exercising, and garrisoned Special Operations Forces worldwide. Detachment 1, 23rd WS at Fort Campbell, Kentucky provides support to the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment.


Lineage

Constituted as 23rd Weather Squadron (Regional Control Hqs) on 28 Oct 1943. Activated on 1 Nov 1943. Disbanded on 7 Sep 1944. Reconstituted, and redesignated, as 23rd Weather Squadron on 3 Jun 2009. Activated on 3 Jul 2009. Redesignated as 23 Special Operations Weather Squadron on 28 Mar 2013.
