1st Special Operations Health Care Operations Squadron

MISSION

The 1st Special Operations Healthcare Operations Squadron (1 SOHCOS) accomplishes global special operations tasking as an Air Force component member of US Special Operations Command. The unit promotes and maintains health for 15.4K beneficiaries divided amongst four groups, 25 squadrons, and 39 partner units. Personnel provide TRICARE Operations, Patient Administration, Information Systems, Resource Management, Logistics, Diagnostics & Therapeutics, Pediatrics, Women’s Health, Immunizations, Family Medicine, Behavioral Health and Emergency Medical Services.

LINEAGE

Constituted the 16th Medical Operations Squadron on Aug. 16, 1994. Activated on Oct. 1, 1994. Redesignated as the 1st Special Operations Medical Operations Squadron on Nov. 16, 2006.

Redesignated  as the 1st Special Operations Health Care Operations Squadron on Jun 7, 2019.

Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The snake wrapped around the winged dagger attached to a disc with the Red Cross resembles the caduceus and emphasizes the medical support the 1st Special Operations Healthcare Operations Squadron provides to AFSOC for delivery of special operations globally.
