1st Special Operations Air Operations Squadron

Mission
The 1st Special Operations Air Operations Squadron integrates 1 SOW assets into special operations forces training events, supports United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM)-directed missions and executes tactical level command and control (C2) of all continental United States and deploying 1 SOW aircraft until transfered to supported organizations, agencies, or commands, in order to provide the 1 SOW commander unparalleled situational awareness; information for decisive action; and the ability to project Air Force Special Operations forces globally.

Emblem Significance
Ultramarine blue and Air Force yellow are the Air Force colors. Blue alludes to the sky, the primary theater of Air Force operations. Yellow refers to the sun and the excellence required of Air Force personnel. The pair of wings displayed symbolizes special air operations and the Squadron's mission to support air operations worldwide. The dagger represents the supported Special Operations Forces. The Chindit, adopted as a mascot by British Special Operations Forces which fought in conjunction with the1st Air Commando Group in Burma during the Second World War, is symbolic of joint and Coalition Special Operations units past, present and future.
