HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. --
The 505th Command and Control Wing sailed past the combined Special Operations Squadron/823rd REDHORSE squadron team 34 - 30 during men's over-30 league intramural basketball Tuesday afternoon at the Aderholt Fitness Center.
In the last minute of the first quarter, the ball traveled up and down the court at least 10 times, providing the audience with lots of action. Each team fouled twice in the first quarter alone.
"One would have thought the sport was tackle football instead of just a 'friendly' game of basketball," observed a spectator.
The first period ended with SOS/RHS taking a 17 - 12 lead.
The game resulted in a 30 - 30 tie, pushing the teams into overtime. However, the 505th CCW was ready for the challenge. They used the extra three minutes of overtime to score two more baskets, which lit a fire under SOS/RHS, causing them to foul the 505th CCW team for the fifth time. Unfortunately the 505th CCW was unable to make the shot, but they still won the ball game.
The win puts the 505th CCW at 2 - 1.
