COLONEL TARA E. LOVELL 

 

Colonel Tara E. Lovell is the Commander of the 1st Special Operations Medical Group, Hurlburt Field, Florida. She leads a team of over 400 personnel providing medical care and operational support to over 15,000 beneficiaries.

Colonel Lovell was born in Charleston, South Carolina. She enlisted in the United States Air Force as an Aerospace Medical Service Technician in 1997. Colonel Lovell received a direct commission into the Medical Service Corps and graduated from Commissioned Officer Training School in 2007. Throughout her career, she has held a variety of leadership positions serving at the squadron, group, headquarters, as well as a deployment in direct support Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. She received her board certification in Health Services Administration by the American College of Healthcare Executives. Colonel Lovell is married to Christopher J. Shaw and they have four children: Andrew, Payton, Ava and Owen.
