A: Updating the base access policy ensures Hurlburt Field’s people, mission and resources are adequately safeguarded in the current security and information environment. These policy changes are in alignment with other Air Force installations to remain at the forefront of protecting our assets.

A: IDs are required for children 16 and over.

A: Uniformed service members, their dependents (over the age of 16), and DoD employees can sponsor visitors onto Hurlburt Field. Contractors are not allowed to sponsor a visitor pass.

Can the sponsor email the VCC with pertinent information to get a visitor’s pass?

A: No. Sponsors need to be physically present while the visitor goes through the vetting process.

A: Members with a Veteran Health Identification Card with a service-connected disability, Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Medal of Honor, or Former POW designation are eligible to register their cards at the Visitor’s Control Center.

A: Registering a REAL ID in DBIDS requires the member to visit the Visitor's Control Center during duty hours. The member must bring their REAL ID Driver's License and meet the perquisites, i.e., currently on active-duty status, DoD Civil Service, etc.

A: Visitors that do not have a DOD-issued ID card will need to get a visitor’s pass from the Visitor Control Center (VCC). Visitors without a pass will not be allowed to enter Hurlburt Field. The Gator Lakes Golf Course will remain open to civilian guests who apply for a pass. Additional information on the process, can be found by visiting: https://myhurlburt.com/gator-lakes-golf-course/. A: People who do not have a Department of Defense issued identification card will require a visitor pass to enter the installation. Visitors without a pass will be redirected to the visitor control center to get one issued.

A: People should expect there to be some delays at the gate for the first few weeks as people get used to the new process. Hurlburt Field will maximize manning at the gates to ensure smooth flow and access for the initial stages of new policy. We recommend people get visitor passes as soon as possible.

A: Visitor passes are good up to 60 days. The length of Visitors pass will vary based on the need. Commander approval will be required for passes more than 60 days. A DBIDS card is also required for passes more than 60 days. DBIDS cards are mainly used for contractors working on base; however, family care providers and VA patients can get a DBIDS card as well.

A: Sponsors may request a one-year pass for people who routinely come on base with their commander’s approval.

A: Retirees will be held to the 60-day standard for visitor passes since they do not have a commander to vet and approve a one-year pass.

A: Registering a REAL ID in DBIDS will help alleviate any unneeded turn arounds and gate congestion if an ID card holder forgets it at home or in his or her CAC reader. The REAL ID can also be used by retirees to gain access to the base if they lose their ID or it’s expired. Registering a REAL ID provides a safety net to access the base.

A: The visitor pass process does not affect entry authorization list process.

A: Contractors entering Hurlburt Field should have a DBIDS card. Contractors who need access to the base and don’t have one can get their DBIDS card at the VCC during normal duty hours.

A: People with a visitors pass with a valid sponsor are allowed unescorted access to the base.

A: PIV issued by the U.S. Departments of State, Treasury, Justice, Interior, Agriculture, Commerce, Labor, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Transportation, Energy, Education, Veterans Affairs, Homeland Security, and the U.S. Postal Service are considered identify proofed and vetted for the purpose of installation access while conducting official business.

A: Civic leaders with DBIDS cards bringing people on base are required to get their guests a visitor pass at the visitor control center.

A: Sponsors should shred or return visitor passes to the visitor control center when no longer needed.

A: There is no immediate threat to Hurlburt Field, however, the current security and information environment does not support the Trusted Traveler Program, and we continue to evaluate ways to enhance our safety and security measures to protect our Airmen, families and assets.
