Upcoming class offers stress reliever tips, tricks

HURLBURT FIELD. Fla. -- Airmen and their families will have the opportunity to attend a class geared towards assisting them with reducing potential holiday stress. The Airman and Family Readiness Center here is scheduled to host its second annual Staying Positive during the Holidays class at noon, Nov. 16.

The one hour class, which is scheduled to be held at the A&FRC, is available to any Department of Defense ID card holder and offers tips and information on how to achieve balance and prevent becoming overwhelmed during the holidays.

“Our goal is to give members of team Hurlburt the tools to help balance stress while planning for the holidays,” said Angela Sanclemente, team lead for the Airman and Family Readiness Center Readiness.
Sanclemente has spent 15 years providing Airmen with ways to balance work, life and other interactions through the A&FRC.

“We hope to have attendees leave the class having identified their priorities and determined a way to accomplish them,” Sanclemente said.

During the class, attendees are also scheduled to receive financial advice and plan a budget.

“The big thing is to make a budget and stick to it,” said Thelma Few, a community readiness consultant with the A&FRC.

According to medicinenet.com, unrealistic expectations, financial pressure and excessive commitments are things that can cause stress and anxiety during the holidays.

“Overall, it is important set boundaries and make wise decisions to alleviate stress,” Few said.
