Airman found dead Jan. 31

A master sergeant from the 1st Special Operations Component Maintenance Squadron was found dead Jan. 31 in Pensacola.

Master Sgt. Eric Einan, 45, was found dead near Seventh Avenue and Maxwell Street after his car was discovered by Pensacola police department a few hours earlier at Seventh Avenue and Jordan Street. A memorial service took place Tuesday at the base chapel.

Sergeant Einan joined the Air Force in 1986 and had been stationed here for two and a half years. He was on terminal leave in the local area pending his retirement from the military.

"The death of Master Sgt. Einan is a tragic event," said Maj. Eric Soto, 1st SOCMS commander.

"The thoughts and prayers of the men and women of the (1st SOCMS) are with his family and children."

Sergeant Einan is survived by his sister and two children.
