Hawk Carlisle, commander of Air Combat Command, visited the 505th Command and Control Wing at Hurlburt Field, Fla., Feb. 4, 2015.During his visit, Carlisle toured the 505th CCW along with the ACC Command Chief, Chief Master Sgt. Steve McDonald, in order to familiarize himself with the mission and the civilians, officers and enlisted who execute that mission here at Hurlburt Field.Gen. Carlisle received a 505th CCW mission brief, toured the 505th Combat Training Squadron and the 605th Test and Evaluation Squadron, had lunch with local Airmen and also held an all call.“To see that our senior leaders are committed to the job gives me hope,” said Capt. Elithe Zogleman, 505th Communications Squadron operations flight commander. “It was great to see that he understands and appreciates what we do daily.”The commander spoke to Airmen about his mission priorities as well as sexual assault and suicide prevention. He mentioned that it “breaks his heart” every time he hears a story about someone taking their own life, whether it’s one of our men and women in uniform or one of our civilian teammates.“What you do every day matters,” said Carlisle. “The quality of people that we work with is why I’ve done this for 40 years and will continue to do it.”Gen. Carlisle expressed his excitement to lead the Airmen of ACC and work with units like the 505th CCW.“I’m proud to be here visiting with you all today,” said Carlisle. “I am honored to be a part of your Air Force and the ACC family.”This was Gen. Carlisle’s and Chief Master Sgt. McDonald’s, first visit to Hurlburt Field as the commander and command chief team.“It was an honor to have the commander visit so early in his command,” said Col. Dan Orcutt, 505th CCW commander. “We were excited to share with him and the command chief what we contribute to the ACC mission.”
