Colonel DEEDRICK L. REESE

Colonel Deedrick L. Reese is the commander, 1st Special Operations Maintenance Group, Hurlburt Field, Florida. As the 1st Special Operations Maintenance Group commander, he is responsible for all aircraft and munitions maintenance, sortie generation, and weapons loading for the 1st Special Operations Wing. The group is comprised of over 2,000 personnel who directly maintain a variety of special operations aircraft, including the AC-130J, MC-130H Combat Talon II, MC-130J Commando II, and the CV-22B Osprey, as well as provide functional oversight of maintenance support for various light/medium non-standard aviation platforms. The group operates and oversees Air Force Special Operations Command’s centralized repair facilities for T56 engines/propellers, avionics components, isochronal maintenance and aircraft refurbishment. The group provides mission ready aircraft, equipment, and personnel to warfighting commanders to accomplish new and enduring global special operations taskings.

Colonel Reese was commissioned in 1999 upon graduation from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina.  He has served in various special operations, mobility, and fighter aircraft maintenance organizations, and has completed staff officer assignments at Headquarters Air Force Special Operations Command and Headquarters Air Force.  Col Reese’s previous command experience includes the 58th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Kirtland Air Force Base, the 451st Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Kandahar Air Base, Afghanistan, and the 27th Special Operations Maintenance Operations Squadron at Cannon Air Force Base.  Before his current assignment, Colonel Reese was the Chief, Command and Control, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Aircraft Division, Air Combat Command, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia.
