Meredith

The 823rd RED HORSE Squadron flag stands at half-staff in honor of retired Brig. Gen. William Thomas Meredith. The founding father or RED HORSE is responsible for the signature red hats. “In the late 70’s, he believed that there was a need to distinguish [RED HORSE Airmen] from regular civil engineering units and have their own identifying mark,” said Staff Sgt. John Reece, pavements and construction operator of 823rd RHS. (U.S. Air Force Photo by Airman 1st Class Benjamin D. Kim)
