More than 24 people gathered in the Base Chapel cafeteria for Munch and Mend June 10, 2013, on Hurlburt Field, Fla.

Munch and Mend is a program in which Airmen and civilian personnel can eat a free meal while waiting for their clothing alterations. The program is offered every second Monday of each month from 5 to 7 p.m.

"I enjoyed this," said Master Sgt. Phannak Srun, 1st Special Operations Maintenance Squadron NCO in charge of systems. "Everyone here caters to you, they greet you and treat you nice. It's a plus that I can get a meal for the entire family while taking care of my uniforms."

The volunteers, who ensure the program runs smoothly, mainly consist of the people who attend chapel services.

Munch and Mend has provided for Hurlburt personnel for almost two decades, said Bill White, a Munch and Mend volunteer.

"The name is pretty self-explanatory: you munch and we mend," White said.

According to John Rice, a volunteer greeter for the program, Munch and Mend is designed for anyone regardless of religious preference.

"One thing we encourage the attendees to do is bring someone with them the next time they attend," said Rice.
