Expo brings new tech, new networks

HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. --  More than 30 exhibitors with industry representatives from various technological firms gathered for a technology exposition at the Soundside Club on Hurlburt Field, Fla., June 4.

The 1st Special Operations Communications Squadron and the Emerald Coast Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association Chapter sponsored the event t, not only present new technology that may be helpful to the Air Force mission, but to foster meaningful relationships to help the Air Force stay on the technological forefront.

"It's a great forum for learning about the new technologies out there," said Julia Banks, event manager for National Conference Services. "This definitely keeps all the [enlisted] and officers up to date with all the technologies."

The conference provided a wide spectrum of technology with the convenience of a one-stop shop venue for interested Air Force members.

"I think it's really crucial during this time where you don't have a lot of those conferences the officers use to go to," Banks said. "Just to see what's new and what's out there, you have to pay for that and the travel. We actually bring the technology to the military and this is a great way for people to see 35 companies in one day rather than setting up meetings and having the companies come to them, they can see them all in one day."

With the accessibility to all the new technology, Airmen with vast experience gained from deploying and conducting mission-essential activities received a first-hand look at what could streamline processes and increase the efficiency or efficacy of missions.

"Since I just got back from Afghanistan, I want to see what they're providing that can help the warfighter down range--see what technology is new and see what they can provide to systems the Marines are still using," said Senior Master Sgt. Troy Bieber, training manager and system program manager for the Air Force Special Operations Command.

"You can see what they have to offer that's new, anything that's competing with industry standards now, and basically just networking with people, keeping up with the people and technology of today."
