Hurlburt Optometry Expands Service

HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. --  The 1st Special Operations Medical Group's Optometry Clinic is now opening its doors to family members of active-duty and retirees.

An increase in the number of optometrists at the 1st Special Operations Aerospace Medicine Squadron has created an opportunity for military families to be examined on a limited basis.

Specialists at the 1st SOMDG are able to provide comprehensive eye exams including health checks and glaucoma screenings as well as glasses prescriptions and contact prescriptions for current wearers.

All that's required is that visiting patients must be at least age 8 years old and registered to Hurlburt's TRICARE Prime program.

Hurlburt Field active-duty members are also eligible for refractive surgery (LASIK and PRK) through the military and the eye clinic is open to all priorities.

Airmen interested in this option schedule an eye exam and must attend a refractive surgery seminar, which is at 3 p.m. the first Tuesday of every month at optometry.
