Forty-two Airmen volunteered to pick up trash, bright and early, along the Chapter 567 section of highway 98 outside of Hurlburt Field, Fla., Oct. 26.

"It's great to get out and do something for our community," said Technical Sgt. Jennifer King, manpower analyst of 1st Special Operations Force Support Squadron.

The effort, sponsored by the Air Force Sergeants Association, beautified a two-mile stretch of road spanning from Hurlburt Field's front gate entrance to Mary Esther.

"AFSA has a long standing history with the Chapter 567 Highway," said Master Sgt. William Ross, aerospace ground equipment assistant flight chief of 1st Special Operations Equipment Maintenance Squadron, and the AFSA president.

AFSA is a private Air Force organization, created in 1961 to fight for benefits of former Prisoners of War by providing representation in congress.

"We own the road and have maintained it over several years along with the help of highway authorities," Ross said. "It's a great opportunity to get out, network, and bolster our relationship with the public."
