Base braces for CFC's 'Tides of Change'

HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. --  Airmen amassed to gather information on an assortment of charities at the 51st anniversary of the Combined Federal Campaign kickoff of Okaloosa-Walton counties at the Soundside Club at Hurlburt Field, Sept. 25.

This year's "Tides of Change" campaign runs through Okaloosa and Walton counties from Oct. 1 to Nov. 9.

The mission of the CFC is to support and promote philanthropy through a program that is employee-focused, cost-efficient and effective in providing all federal employees an opportunity to improve the quality of life for all, according to a CFC press release.

"The success of the Combined Federal Campaign demonstrates the commitment of Federal employees to public service," said Diane Thomas, vice president of Okaloosa-Walton Counties CFC in the release. "Not only do federal employees devote their livelihoods to their country, but their generosity has made the CFC one of the most powerful philanthropic forces in the world."

The kickoff began with lines of informational booths boasting pamphlets and free promotional giveaways to attract potential donors.

There are more than 150 CFC campaigns throughout the country and internationally that help raise millions of dollars each year. The CFC is also the world's largest and most successful annual workplace charity program, according to the release.

"The most important thing to know about the CFC is that our service members have the ability to help others who aren't able to repay them," said Master Sgt. Howard E. Donald, CFC base project officer. "There are a wide spectrum of charities that anyone can choose from and every dollar makes an impact!"
