The front nine holes of the Gator Lakes Golf Course and Oasis Café have resumed normal operations. The back nine holes will remain closed until further notice due to ongoing fire-fighting operations.

A change in wind direction occurred earlier today, which began pushing the fires further away from the base. The Hurlburt Field Fire Department and Eglin Air Force Base's Jackson Guard Fire Management section are continuing preventative measures and engaging the fires throughout the duration. If necessary, more than a dozen local fire departments and state and federal agencies stand ready to assist.

The fires are still contained and are not a threat to local residents; however, smoke will continue to be an issue until the area receives significant rainfall.

For more information regarding the fire, contact Mike Spaits, Eglin Air Force Base environmental spokesman, at (850)-882-2836. Additional information will be posted on the official Hurlburt Field Facebook page and website as it becomes available.
