The 1st Special Operations Maintenance Group welcomed a new commander April 30. Here is a little more information about him.

Name/Rank: Lt. Col. Kevin Howard

Organization: 1st Special Operations Maintenance Group

Hometown: Cleveland, Ohio

Off-duty time is for: Family, friends and sports

Previous Assignments:
- Student, National War College, Fort Lesley J. McNair, Washington, D.C.
- Military Deputy to Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Maintenance, Policy and Programs, Office of the Undersecretary of Defense (Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics), Washington, D.C.
- Air Force National Account Manager, HQ Defense Logistics Agency, Fort Belvoir, Va.

Organizational Goals:
-Make sure our Airmen are properly trained and have the resources to do their jobs efficiently and effectively. I believe the most precious thing in the Air Force is an Airman's time - I don't want to waste it.
-Provide some stability for our Airmen to be able to plan family time. Most people talk about having a balance between work and family, but it's more about having a scale. If the scale stays up in one area too long, then it impacts the other.

Work Philosophy:
It's not about me-- I'm not anyone's boss. People don't work for me; we work together for one common purpose. I put people first and mission always. I believe that hard work is good for the soul.
