Tops in Blue, the premier entertainment showcase of the U.S. Air Force, will perform a free concert Feb. 11 at Hurlburt Field's Freedom Hangar at 7 p.m. The musical group, comprised of Airmen from various career fields, is currently on their 2011 "Rhythm Nation" tour of Air Force installations around the world.

This year's troupe of singers, musicians and technicians will cover the origins of popular music in the 20th century, featuring hits from Nat King Cole, Little Richard, Tammi Terrell and J-Lo.

"The 2011 tour brings to life the music of America, from the early 1900s through today," wrote Tops in Blue representatives on their website. "It provides a glimpse of a century of popular music and how it grew through new rhythms and technology."

Spectators are permitted to take pictures of the group during the show. There will also be a meet and greet session for the audience after the performance. No concessions will be sold at the show. While food and drinks are allowed within the hangar, event sponsors request trash be kept to a minimum.

Parking will be available at the hangar, but there will also be bus locations at the base chapel, Force Support Squadron, base lodging and the Base Exchange to alleviate traffic issues.

Although the concert at Hurlburt Field is limited to Department of Defense cardholders, Tops in Blue will be performing Feb. 10 in an event open to the general public at the Emerald Coast Convention Center at 7:00 p.m.

According to the group's website, Tops in Blue 2011 keeps nearly 60 years of touring tradition alive by visiting all bases throughout the United States and more than 25 foreign countries. Their tour schedule spans more than 120 locations and also includes entertaining troops stationed in Iraq, Qatar, Afghanistan and Kuwait.

"Add the high energy precision choreography and dazzling visual impact Tops in Blue is known for and every member of the audience will be singing along and dancing in their seats," wrote group representatives in a press release. "By the end of Rhythm Nation, you can be sure that Tops in Blue will have played 'Your Song.'"
