"Tip of the Spear" is a weekly spotlight designed to recognize outstanding Airmen for the work they do every day at Hurlburt Field. Senior Airman Luke Bogacz, 11th Intelligence Squadron intelligence analyst, was selected for this week's spotlight.

Name: Senior Airman Luke Bogacz

Unit: 11th Intelligence Squadron

Duty Title: Intelligence analyst

Hometown: Chicago, Ill.

Date Entered the Air Force: Dec. 19, 2006

Hobbies: Drumming, motorcycle riding and beer and wine tasting.

Why did you join the Air Force?
I always wanted to be in the Armed Forces, but I specifically wanted to learn a technical skill and make money while doing it.

How does your Air Force specialty contribute to the mission?
We participate in a mission that requires unique training at my unit. The specialties I learned in technical school provide a solid foundation that allows me to be flexible and diverse while conducting my current mission.

If you were Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force for one day, how would you change the Air Force?
I'd change the assignment process from a computerized number crunch to a system based on performance, skills and personal interest of all Airmen. One's work ethic should affect their chances of being assigned to a location of their preference.

What's your favorite thing about Hurlburt Field?
The job and mission here is diverse, unique and challenging. Plus it's nice to live in a place where people pay to have their vacation.

What do you like most about being an Airman?
The support from the Air Force and local community for Airmen is awesome.

What's one thing you wish you were told before joining the Air Force?
I wish the benefits of a four-year enlistment versus a six-year enlistment were explained to me with a few more details.

What motivates you at work?
The ability to have an immediate impact on my mission and see the results of my work.

Who are your heroes/role models?
My parents, because they work hard and always find the time to enjoy the little things around them.

Advice to others?
It's never about if one will fall-- it's how they get back up.

Why was he selected?
"Airman Bogacz is a talented full-motion video instructor and screener. His maturity and flexibility made him an obvious choice to be the face of the 11th IS as he provides initial qualification instruction to all newcomers to the squadron. His dynamic leadership ability enables him to produce the highest quality results for the squadron and present a positive image while supporting 24/7 combat support operations. He is a proven professional whose attitude and dedication inspire those around him to excel, both in-garrison and downrange."
