Hometown: Danville, Va.

Date Entered the Air Force: Sept. 12, 2006

Why did you join the Air Force?
I joined the Air Force for an opportunity to travel and see more of the world than my small hometown.

How does your Air Force specialty contribute to the mission?
We provide a wide variety of personnel and administrative support to military members and their dependents. We accomplish all personnel actions from one office which is essential for the high operations tempo of our unit.

If you were Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force for one day, how would you change the Air Force?
I would take the enlisted performance report portion out of the Weighted Airman Promotion System. I'd add a fitness portion to the system, too.

What's your favorite thing about Hurlburt Field?
The location.

What do you like most about being an Airman?
The sense of pride in military service and, of course, the job security.

What's one thing you wish you were told before joining the Air Force?
My recruiter kept it real with me. He let me know everything that a potential recruit needed to know.

What motivates you at work?
My supervision, and being the best Airman I can be.

Advice to others?
Learn from your mistakes. Correct the issue and move on.

Why was he selected?
"Airman Fitz administers Commander's Support Staff functions in a highly mobile combat engineer unit of more than 450 personnel. In our recent Operational Readiness Inspection, his professionalism and attention to detail helped the squadron garner an "excellent" rating in the personnel category. Furthermore, he provides great energy and motivation as one of the squadron physical training leaders, where he always leads from the front. These few achievements are just the 'tip of the iceberg' and, when coupled with many of his other accomplishments, earned Airman Fitz  the 2010 Personnelist of the Year for the 9th Air Force."
