Five Air Commandos win A1 awards

RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas (AFNS) --  The deputy chief of staff for manpower, personnel and services recently announced the 2009 award winners for the A1 community.

"The A1 community is ready, engaging and constantly leaning forward to support Airmen and taking care of their families," said Lt. Gen. Richard Newton. "While celebrating the accomplishments of our entire community, I would also like to identify specific, outstanding individuals, programs, and teams."

Individual legacy awards:
Dr. Edwin C. Peterson Education and Training Manager Award:
Danny W. White, Air Force Special Operations Command, Hurlburt Field, Fla.

Officer awards:
Force Support Company Grade Officer of the Year, for installation level:
Capt. James M. Lupher, AFSOC, Hurburt Field, Fla.

Enlisted awards, staff and operational levels:
Force Support Senior NCO of the Year, for staff level:
Master Sgt. H. Deshane Montgomery, AFSOC, Hurburt Field, Fla.

Enlisted awards, installation level:
Education and Training Airman of the Year:
Senior Airman Cristen A. Smith, AFSOC, Hurburt Field, Fla.

Enlisted Professional Military Education NCO of the Year:
Staff Sgt. Crystal M. Moronta, AFSOC, Hurlburt Field, Fla.

"Again, congratulations to all of our winners," General Newton said. "I look forward to meeting the winners at the A1 Worldwide Conference and award ceremony on Mar. 11."
