FSS strives to meet professional and personal goals with "one stop" shopping

June 20, 2009 marks the first anniversary of the 1st Special Operations Force Support Squadron at Hurlburt Field.

The 1st SOFSS is a result of combining the mission support squadron with the services squadron. This historic merger of organizations streamlined processes, increased efficiencies, maximized customer service and cut costs associated with maintaining two separate organizations.

Although organizational charts changed dramatically, the goal of 1SOFSS was to make the merger as transparent as possible for customers, which they succeeded in doing, said Mr. Neil Howard, 1 SOFSS deputy commander.

"Meeting the needs and desires of our customers is our first priority," said Mr. Howard. "Our customers continue to be our focus, be they the youngest airman, the most senior retiree, or one of numerous family members. We strive to maintain the highest quality of customer service for our patrons in all we do." 

Business as usual continues to be the goal for former services activities, Airman and Family Readiness Center programs, dining facilities, the Education Office, the Civilian Personnel Office and the Military Personnel Flight.

The 1st SOFSS provides administrative control for approximately 700 military and civilian personnel, manages 90 base facilities, and supports more than 40,000 active duty, Reservists, civilians, families, and retirees in the local community.

The 1st SOFSS provides professional and personal services to the Hurlburt Field community through a wide variety of activities, facilities and programs. 

In addition, the 1st SOFSS information magazine publishes a calendar of upcoming events, base wide activities, and summertime diversions for the entire family on both a web site, www.myhurlburt.com and in the Marlin Monthly magazine. The Marlin Monthly is conveniently located at 30 Hurlburt Field customer service and high traffic locations.
