After 32 years of service, a 505th Command and Control Wing civilian is retiring May 30.

Carolyn Howard, a senior budget analyst, has climbed the civil service career ladder since she began in 1974 as a cashier, shelf stocker and ID checker in the commissary at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.

She continued her service at Kadena Air Base, Japan, Elmendorf AFB, Alaska, and now closes her career at Hurlburt Field--just 10 miles from where it began.

Ms. Howard's jobs included a file clerk assistant for the 46th Test Wing, clerk-typist in a civil engineer squadron, accounting technician at the Elmendorf Commissary, travel voucher examiner and accounting technician for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, maintenance administrative support at the 46th TW and budget assistant in Eglin's civil engineer squadron.

She has worked in the 505th CCW for the last 14 years where she was responsible for providing timely financial decision support to senior wing leadership. Her efforts influenced wing priorities as she kept leadership abreast of portfolio contents.

"Ms. Howard's career accomplishments reflect her financial management expertise, professionalism and a determination to help the mission and all those who come in contact with her to succeed," said Richard Foust, 505th CCW. "Her tireless dedication and outstanding contributions will continue to benefit this command and the Air Force well into this new century."
