The Hurlburt Field Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment Program will observe National Alcohol Screening Day April 10 in the atrium of the 1st Special Operations Medical Group from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Although most individuals who drink do so responsibly, some are unaware of the effects alcohol can have on health. The goal of NASD is to educate the public on the potential risks associated with drinking. Through education, awareness and understanding, individuals can make informed decisions about their drinking behaviors.

As part of the program, participants will have the opportunity to hear an educational presentation on alcohol's impact on health. Participants will also have the opportunity to complete a written self-test. Individuals who complete the screening test will receive a prize. An educational video, pamphlets, brochures, flyers and information on local evaluation, treatment and support resources will also be available. Professionals from the medical group will be on hand to answer questions.

NASD is held in April as part of Alcohol Awareness Month. For more information, visit www.NationalAlcoholScreeningDay.org or call Earl Rivers at 881-3472.
