The doors swung open on the 1st Special Operations Wing heritage closet Nov. 30.

On sale at the closet are blankets, coins, casual shirts, T-shirts, baseball caps and glass mugs emblazoned with the 1st SOW shield. The closet is located on the second floor of Bldg. 90210 - cattycorner from the Military Equal Opportunity offices.

At a small ceremony, Col. Marshall B. Webb, 1st SOW commander, cut the ribbon.

"The 1st SOW has tremendous history," the commander said. "Having a place to display our wares - who we are, where we've been, and where we're going - is incredible."

The closet is the brainchild of the Hurlburt Field Focus 56 council. Its officers have worked on the heritage closet for two years, according to Focus 56's Tech. Sgt. Osvaldo Freyre.

All monies collected from sales return to the base through community projects and donations to the various graduations and ceremonies.

The closet's doors will list items for sale and details on how to purchase these items.
