Recycling center can now process spent ammo
Tom Fujan runs expended small arms brass shells through Hurlburt Field's new ordnance deformer machine at the base recycling center Monday after a ribbon cutting ceremony. The machine is capable of processing up to 11,000 pounds of shells as large as .50 caliber in an hour. It renders them unusable and ready for sale. Annual income to the recycling center from the sale of this valuable commodity should increase by $70,000, providing additional funds for Hurlburt Field's quality of life programs.
