Hurlburt teens to attend Air Force summer camps Published June 1, 2007 By Jon Ortiz 1st SOSVS HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. -- Five Hurlburt children have been selected to participate in various Air Force summer camps this year. Two were selected to attend the Air Force Space Academy July 29-Aug. 3 at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Ala. The academy is divided into basic and advance programs and uses a hands-on approach to introduce youths to space and aviation. Among the 33 selected to go to the Basic Space Academy was Amber Callan, daughter of Col. Mike Callan, Air Force Special Operations Forces commander. Attending the Advance Space Academy, is Bryce Greene, son of Lt. Col. Scott Greene, AFSOF Air and Space Operations Center vice commander. Jared Gibson and Zachary Greene were selected to attend the Air Force 4-H Ultimate Outdoor and Fitness Adventure Camp June 24-29 in Little Rock, Ark. The Adventure Camp is a teen leadership opportunity, and 88 teenagers were selected Air Force-wide to attend the camp. Jared is the son of Tina Kneip, 1st Special Operations Contracting Squadron, and Senior Master Sgt. Vaughn Gibson, 96th Mission Support Squadron, Eglin Air Force Base. Zachary is the son of Colonel Greene. Finally, Robert Tetla will be able to catch a glimpse of life at the U. S. Air Force Academy next month after being selected to attend the Air Force Services Teen Aviation Camp. Robert is the son of Lori Tetla, Air Force Special Operations Command, and Lt. Col. Robert Tetla, 96th Aerospace Medicine Squadron, Eglin AFB.
