In what is sure to be a "do not miss event," Hurlburt Field will close out the National Holocaust Observance period with a special educational presentation and experience.

The program will include a Holocaust history overview presented by Dr. Gail Wallen of the Jewish Family & Children's Service of Southwestern Arizona followed by personal accounts from Holocaust survivors telling their stories.

"I hope you will hear them well because we are among the last generations who will have this opportunity," said Dr. Wallen. "If you forget the past, it will happen in the future."

The survivors represent a universal tragedy and serve as witnesses to what happens when the abnormalities of a society are allowed to become the norm, said Dr. Wallen.

"This is why we fight - so this doesn't happen again," she said. "The uniformed men and women of our nation fight for freedom from this kind of oppression."
