The draft Environmental Impact Statement associated with Air Force Special Operations Command assets at Cannon Air Force Base, N.M., is now available for public comment.

The Air Force proposes to transfer aircraft and personnel from Hurlburt Field or other existing operational locations to Cannon AFB. Potential AFSOC assets to transfer include aircraft, weapons systems, equipment and personnel.

The draft EIS is available for review and comment online at www2.afsoc.af.mil/fonsi.

To ensure the public has a fair and equal opportunity to consider and comment on the draft EIS, the Air Force will hold three public hearings in New Mexico. Attendees will be encouraged to provide oral and written comments during the public hearings or to mail in written comments prior to the close of the public comment period.

Comments will be accepted throughout the analysis process and will be used to help shape and refine the draft EIS. All public input should be received by May 14 to ensure inclusion in the draft EIS. People wishing to mail comments or provide further input can obtain the address by calling 884-5984.
