The 1st Special Operations Medical Group and the Hurlburt Field Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment program will observe National Alcohol Screening Day 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Thursday in the 1st SOMDG atrium.

Although most individuals who drink do so responsibly, some are unaware of the effects alcohol can have on their health. The goal of NASD is to educate the public on the potential risks associated with drinking. Through education, awareness and understanding, individuals can make informed decisions about their drinking behaviors.

As part of the program, participants will have the opportunity to hear an educational presentation on alcohol's impact on health. Participants will also have a chance to complete a written screening self-test and receive a prize. An educational video, pamphlets, brochures and other information on local treatment and support resources will also be available. NASD is held in April as part of Alcohol Awareness Month.
