Airman Basic Jeremy Bell, 505th Training Squadron, arrived at Hurlburt Field in April, and by Memorial Day weekend, he was ready to roll - for Airmen Against Drunk Driving.

During the 505th Command and Control Wing commander's call July 20, Airman Bell was presented a check for $200 for his AADD award-winning poster depicting the reasons Airmen should not drink and drive.

"I just like to volunteer and help in the community," said Airmen Bell. "It also helps me get familiar with the area."

As a driver for AADD, he's logged 420 hours and saved 13 Airmen from possible DUIs since May.

When Master Sgt. Myra Casanova, 16th Mission Support Squadron and the person in charge of AADD for Hurlburt Field, announced the poster contest Airmen Bell busted out his art supplies.

As a graphics technician with the 505th TRS, Airmen Bell is familiar with the art world and creating different graphics for use in the squadron.

"I sat down and did some sketches; I wanted it to have a retro feel," said Airman Bell. "It forced me to actually draw again since computer graphics weren't allowed in the contest."

The results were enough to win first place.

Although the artwork is what's noticed first, the caption on the poster is what Sergeant Casanova thought was significant.

The caption reads, "Everyone makes mistakes. Some mistakes are more significant than others. Don't let the mistake of Driving Under the Influence be the mistake that influences how your life and career are finished."
