Halloween is next week, and for those who want to enjoy festivities beyond on-base trick-or-treating and the RED HORSE haunted house, there are several places near Hurlburt Field which can get Airmen into the spooky spirit:

The Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge's Haunted House is located at 314 Hwy 98, Destin, Fla., and will be open Friday and Saturdays until Nov. 2, including Halloween. Tickets are $9 and proceeds will support the Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge.

"This attraction takes you on a journey through the scariest, creepiest, most blood-curdling attraction on this side of the continental divide," according to the Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge. "This is not a haunted house for the faint of heart, small children are not recommended."

Jaycees Haunted House is located at Fudpucker's on Okaloosa Island, 1318 Miracle Strip Pkwy, and will be open Oct. 18, 19, 25, 26 and 30. Tours will also take place Nov. 2. Tickets are $8 and proceeds will support local charitable projects.

"This is a no touch haunted house, but screaming is inevitable," according to Jaycees Haunted House. "The haunted house is a chilling experience inside the den of the dead and near dead. Come see the freshly slaughtered specials and enjoy a frightfully imaginative experience."

The Heritage Park & Cultural Center is located at 139 Miracle Strip Parkway SE, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and is hosting haunted tours. The tours will be held at 6:30, 7, 7:30 and 8 p.m. Oct. 25 and 26. Visitors should arrive at least 15 minutes early for each tour at the Indian Temple Mound Museum. Tours conclude with refreshments inside the Camp Walton Schoolhouse Museum. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for children.

"The program offers a guided twilight walking tour of historic sites in the downtown area that features costumed actors interpreting local history and haunted happenings that are based on authentic local history, folk stories and spooky downtown historic sites," according to the Heritage Park & Cultural Center.
