Gator Lakes golf course gets makeover Published Sept. 17, 2015 By Senior Airman Jeff Parkinson 1st Special Operations wing Public Affairs HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. -- Over the last year various improvements have been made to modernize the experience at Gator Lakes golf course, here. Since facility updates began, golf cart paths have been repaired, Oasis Café received an overhead cover and a new fleet of golf carts were brought in to replace the old ones. Recently, the golf course has updated its driving range, the club house and created a new internet presence. “We just launched our standalone website, GatorLakes.com,” said Don Kramer, Gator Lakes golf course manager. “The new website is linked to the previous link at MyHurlburt.com.” The course will also continue to receive improvements throughout the next year. “We have recently replaced the sand in all of the bunkers,” said Kramer. “Next we will be adding new signs with accurate yardage, new irrigation systems and building three waterless restrooms to replace the portable toilets.” Gator Lakes has also opened its course to the public. Non-Department of Defense card holders will need to fill out an affidavit obtainable from Gator Lakes’ website and present it to the Visitor Control Center outside the main gate. “The security forces member [at the Visitor Control Center] will vet the applicant for any derogatory information that would prevent the applicant from receiving a pass,” said Senior Airman Gary Jackson, 1st Special Operations Security Forces Squadron pass and registration clerk. “If no [derogatory] information is found, the applicant is asked to proceed to the pass and registration office in building 90210, where they will have their photo taken and ID badge issued.” The ID badge is only good for entry through the Hurlburt Field East gate during Gator Lakes golf course’s operational hours, from 6:00 a.m. to dusk.
