The 2015 Combined Federal Campaign kicked off Sept. 1, here. The CFC program was created by the Office of Personnel Management to give every federal employee the opportunity to donate to a charity of their choice through one fundraising campaign.

“There are many approved local, national and international charity organizations to choose from,” said Pamela Pratt, CFC base project officer. “It truly depends on what the employee is interested in contributing to - like feeding the hungry, rescuing animals, providing services for veterans or emergency assistance during natural disasters.”

Hurlburt Field has set monetary goals in the past, however, this year the goal is set at a contribution percentage.

“Hurlburt’s CFC is not setting a monetary goal this year,” said Tech. Sgt. Russell Lilly, 1st Special Operations Wing weapons safety NCO in charge. “Instead the goal is to notify 100 percent of the base and have at least 30 percent contribute.”

According to Pratt, Hurlburt Field’s 2014 CFC reached 11 percent participation when 916 people out of 8,200 contributed to the campaign.

“On an installation and in a command that ‘takes care of its own,’ it’s important to realize there are multiple charities out there to help us do that, which is the reason it’s important that members of Hurlburt Field participate and contribute,” said Pratt. “Every dollar makes a difference.”

Personnel interested in contributing can sign up with their unit CFC representative or online at www.floridapanhandle-cfc.org.

Hurlburt Field’s CFC will be at the “trick-or-trot” 5k on Oct. 30, and will also be hosting a golf tournament on Nov. 6 at Gator Lakes Golf Course.
