CAIB launches new Helping Agency Directory Published Jan. 14, 2016 By Senior Airman Jeff Parkinson 1st Special Operations Wing HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. -- The Community Action Information Board (CAIB) launched the Helping Agency Directory, here, slated to release Jan. 12, 2015.The CAIB is a commander's tool that allows the commander to assess the health of the community and to enact positive programs and services to foster resiliency. “This forum is built on a holistic Comprehensive Airman Fitness (CAF) framework using mental, physical, social and spiritual pillars to focus the community action programs, thus developing a resilient Air Force culture,” said Dexter Mitchell, community support coordinator with the 1st Special Operations Wing. The HAD is accessible on most workstations and to all personnel and their families on the Hurlburt Field website. The goal of the HAD is to provide an online resource for the base populace to seek information about the helping agencies, programs and services available on Hurlburt.“By executing the HAD as an online directory, we're providing an easier way for the Team Hurlburt community to access help when in need,” said Marisa Olin, the community programs and peer network coordinator with the 1st Special Operations Group. “It was created to be a ‘one-stop shop’ to find information on all the helping agencies available from any computer, so help is easily accessible at all times.”The HAD has been a work in progress here for some time now.“It has been a dream of mine to create this directory since I began my career on Hurlburt almost five years ago working at the Airman & Family Readiness Center,” said Olin. “It was there that I first saw a need for a central location to get information on base agencies and programs. When I joined Preservation of the Force and Family (POTFF), I was empowered to make that a reality.”At the April 2015 CAIB, leadership’s spouses were asked for their feedback on what they felt spouses needed here. “One of their responses was that there was no central location to find information on all the base-helping agencies,” said Olin.Members can expect the new icon to appear on their desktop any day now if not already.“The HAD desktop icon has begun to populate some workstations,” said Mitchell. “Personnel can expect to see it populate on their workstation over the next 30 days, if it has not already.”Personnel or their families wishing to access the directory now, or away from government computers can find it on the Hurlburt Field website www.hurlburt.af.mil.
