What are your plans for your tax returns?

If you haven’t already spent it on that fancy 1,000 inch television with the voice command system that throws popcorn into your mouth as you lounge on the couch, stop to think about the beneficial ways your money could be used.

If you’re interested in learning different beneficial ways to use your money, grab a friend and head to the Hurlburt Airman and Family Readiness Center on Feb. 23, for a class presented by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.

The class will be from 3 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

During this class, you will learn different investing options and ways to start the process.

“Investing options and plans depend on the individual,” said Thelma Few, a community readiness consultant with the Airman and Family Readiness Center. “That’s the good thing about having different options.”

The course provides information beyond basic investing. You’ll also learn more about thrift savings plans, planning for retirement, tips for avoiding scams and other investing hurdles.

“People who are thinking about investing would benefit from this class,” said Angela Sanclemente, the team lead with the A&FRC. “Not only will you learn the different ways to invest, but you will learn to concentrate on your future.”

In honor of Military Saves Week, which is Feb. 22 - 27, the A&FRC will be having money-related classes all month.

“If managing your money with confidence is a goal of yours, this class, along with meeting with one of the five financial counselors [at the A&FRC], will get you started,” said Few.

Some of the classes scheduled will be going over saving for an emergency fund, reducing debt, couponing to save money, learning how to budget for the holidays and more.
