Sharing knowledge to save lives
An airman with the 6th Special Operations Squadron advises a Malian Air Force medical team during a search and rescue exercise May 21 at a military training area north of Bamako, Mali. This was the final exercise the 6th SOS conducted with the Malian Air Force following three weeks of joint training. The final exercise was led by the Malian air force unit and included U.S. and Malian security, medical and aircrew elements, as well as representatives of Malian and African civilian aviation authorities. The 6th SOS is in Mali this month conducting the military training engagement as part of Operation Enduring Freedom (Trans-Sahara), a Department of Defense initiative to establish long-term relationships and help develop capacities of north and western African nations.
