Judges hand down sentencing for four Airmen during month of June

Two special courts-martial were held at Hurlburt Field recently. 

On June 11, Senior Airman Kevin Mitchell, 1st Special Operations Equipment Maintenance Squadron, pled guilty in a special court-martial to misuse of his government travel card for purchases and cash advances while not on government travel orders, and wrongful appropriation of Bank of America property. He used the card for purchases and cash advances while not on temporary duty orders, and was charged with larceny of Bank of America property for falsely reporting his card stolen and receiving a credit from Bank of America.
 
The military judge, Col. Ronald Gregory, adjudged a sentence of reduction to E-1, five months confinement and a bad conduct discharge. 

On June 13, Senior Airman Charles Davis, 1st Special Operations Helicopter Maintenance Squadron, pled guilty in a special court-martial to wrongful use of marijuana, Lortab, Oxy-Contin and morphine between February 2005 and May 2007. He also pled guilty to larceny for withdrawing money with a card left in an automatic teller machine. 

The military judge, Lt. Col. Michael Savage, found Airman Davis guilty and adjudged a sentence of reduction to E-1, three months confinement and a bad conduct discharge. 

Airmen found guilty 

On June 1, the following charges against Airmen were decided: 

Airman 1st Class Jonathan Hearn, 1st Special Operations Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, pled guilty in a summary court-martial to making a false official statement to his commander, wrongful use of marijuana on more than one occasion and wrongfully using marijuana to avoid fulfillment of his service commitment. 

After considering all the evidence introduced by the government and defense, Lt. Col. Michael Morreale, 1st SOAMXS commander and the presiding officer, found Airman Hearn guilty and adjudged a sentence of reduction to E-1, forfeiture of $729 and 23 days of confinement. 

Senior Airman Dustin Wood, 1st SOAMXS, pled guilty in a summary court-martial to an off-base driving while intoxicated charge that occurred in April. 

After considering all the evidence introduced by the government and defense, Colonel Morreale, the presiding officer, found Airman Wood guilty and adjudged a sentence of reduction to E-3, 30 days of hard labor without confinement and restriction for 30 days.
