One of the few times individuals can take their two-wheeled beast and cruise along side an MC-130 was on June 8, during the annual Hurlburt Field Motorcycle Rally.

More than 100 riders gathered at the motorcycle pad next to the permanent exercise facility where the event was kicked off with opening remarks from Chief Master Sgt. James Wilkerson, 1st Special Operations Maintenance Group and Okaloosa County Sheriff Office Deputy Jack Burritt.

The group revved up their engines and began the ride onto the perimeter road of the flight line, exiting onto Red Horse Road, and ending in the parking lot of the Aderholt Fitness Center with food, drinks, and conversation.

As part of the "101 Critical Days of Summer," motorcycle safety can never be stressed enough.

"Promoting group rides is one of the many ways that experienced and inexperienced riders can share their riding concerns and experiences to riding safety," said Chief Wilkerson, an active rider who focuses on safety awareness and enhancing networking of the riders.

Master Sgt. David Keller, 1st Special Operations Component Maintenance Squadron, is a veteran rider of 18 years.

"There's a lot of great information passed onto all riders, old and young," said Sergeant Keller. "I would like to see the rally continue with increased participation."

Along with giving riders safety tips and precautionary measures, the rally helps riders to meet and get to know their fellow adrenaline junkies.

"It's a great opportunity for riders to bond and promote safety and brotherhood," said Lt. Col. William Holt, 1st Special Operations Wing Safety Office.

Hurlburt motorcycle riders remember safety first!
