Security Forces Airmen applied force protection measures Nov. 7, verifying the credentials of all contractors employed on Hurlburt Field. These measures rooted out three individuals who possessed fraudulent identification documents, and closed the loop on a potential threat to the security of the installation.

Morning traffic through the gates slowed as 16th Security Forces Squadron Airmen collaborated with special agents from the local Air Force Office of Special Investigations detachment to verify contractors' identity credentials.

The gate checks are part of the 16th SFS' mission to protect Hurlburt people and resources through positive control and accountability of anyone who enters the base, according to Maj. Marc Sheie, 16th SFS commander. Follow-on actions to this effort include implementation of a revised screening process for all workers entering the base.
The three individuals identified with fraudulent documents during the gate checks were permanently debarred from the base.
