Hurlburt Field, Eglin Air Force Base to host Emerald Warrior 07 Published Oct. 6, 2006 By Courtesy AFSOC AFSOC Public Affairs HURLBURT FIELD, Fla -- Air Force Special Operations Command will hold its first joint coalition exercise on the Eglin Range Oct. 23 to Nov. 3. Emerald Warrior 07 will train Air Force, Army and allied units in missions directly related to the Global War on Terrorism. During the exercise, units will train in exfiltration and infiltration of personnel and equipment, personnel recovery operations, close air support, coordination of coalition support, and exercising command and control elements, through both live and virtual reality operations. All exercise activity will take place on Eglin Range. Area residents can expect to see an increase in flying activity over the range between 3 p.m. - 2 a.m. through the duration of the exercise. The 46th Test Wing at Eglin Air Force Base will coordinate all range activities, and provide the "opposition force" ground and air elements. Participating aircraft include A-10s, F-15s, F-16s, AC-130s, MC-130s, MH-53s, KC-135s, E-3s and E-8Cs. Local Air Force units include: - 16th Special Operations Wing, 720th Special Tactics Group, AFSOC, and 505th Command and Control Wing from Hurlburt Field - 46th Test Wing and 53rd Wing from Eglin Air Force Base Other units include: - 111th Fighter Wing from Willow Grove, Penn., an Air National Guard unit - 552nd Air Control Wing from Tinker Air Force Base, Okla. - 116th Air Control Wing from Robins Air Force Base, Ga. - 6th Air Mobility Wing, from MacDill Air Force Base, Fla. - A Company, 1/7th Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, N.C. Coalition forces include units from Germany, Lithuania, Norway and Denmark
