Hurlburt Field pays tribute to fallen comrade Published Sept. 15, 2006 By Staff Sgt. Kelly Ogden 16th SOW Public Affairs HURLBURT FIELD, Fla -- "To everything turn, turn, turn., a time to be born, a time to die," were the words that played in the background during a memorial service for Master Sgt. Dallas Webb Sept. 8 at the base chapel. These words symbolized a life that was cut short two days prior. Sergeant Webb, a computer security manager with the 16th Communications Squadron, died at his house Sept. 6 from a massive heart attack. Members of the 16th CS, Hurlburt community, friends and family were present to honor their fallen comrade. "Dallas was the kind of guy that just impresses you the first time you meet," said Maj. Karl Deerman, the officer in charge of Sergeant Webb's section. "He was professional, knowledgeable and yet humble." "Master Sgt. Webb was true blue," said Senior Master Sgt. Alan Johnson, Sergeant Webb's supervisor. "He loved his profession and wanted to stay in as long as possible. He was a great example for our young troops." Elizabeth Webb, Sergeant Webb's wife, paid tribute to her husband by writing a short goodbye, which was read during the ceremony by her sister-in-law. "In our house, we never said goodbye," wrote Mrs. Webb. "So, I wrote a prayer instead. Lord, teach me to laugh again, but never let me forget the reasons that I cry. See ya later, I love you, Liz." Sergeant Webb is survived by his wife and two daughters.
