505th CCW/16th SVS cook 16th CS 12-1

HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. --  From start to finish, the 505th Command and Control Wing/16th Services Squadron combination team dominated the intramural softball championship game against the 16th Communications Squadron here Aug. 4.

The game ended in 505th CCW/16th SVS taking the title with a 12-1 win against 16th CS.
"We had a solid defense," said CCW/SVS coach Matt Kealy. "We kept hitting the ball. The rest just worked itself out."

In the top of the first inning, CCW/SVS cleaned house with four runs.

Unfortunately, CS did not share in that same success. They picked up a few base hits, but were unable to bring the runs home.

The second inning brought the same success for CCW/SVS, scoring four more runs.

"We did great all season because of our base hitters and speed," said Willie Stevenson, CCW/SVS.

CS came back with a great defense in the third inning, only allowing CCW/SVS to score one run.

However, the combined team came back and gained three more runs.

In the fifth inning, CS scored their one and only run. But, they got their defense up again, and CCW/SVS were unable to score.

"We had a spectacular performance this year; we were tough as nails," said Humerto Llanes, CS coach. "We had to work up from the losers' bracket. Winning those led us here tonight."

"We had a great season," said Jim Harriot, 16th SVS sports director. "There were a lot of obstacles that we had to overcome this year, from the operational readiness inspection to weather cancellations. However, the teams stuck by through thick and thin. Hopefully next year, we will have all of the great support that we had this year."
