16th CES Fire Dawgs hose Ammo 10 - 9

HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. -- Ten hits in the fourth inning was all it took to tilt the scales in the favor of the 16th Civil Engineer Squadron's Fire Dawgs against the 16th Equipment Maintenance Squadron's Ammo team during the intramural softball playoffs here Tuesday night.

The game resulted in CES taking all with a score of 10-9.

EMS had a productive first inning, scoring a whopping three runs, while CES was forced to eat their dust, only scoring one run in three innings.

In the bottom of the third inning, EMS was ahead six to one. The game seemed to have already been won by EMS leading into the fourth inning.

But CES came back with a vengeance. Their drive to make it to the next bracket pushed them over the edge, scoring nine runs at the top of the fourth inning.

"The hits really came alive," said CES coach Aaron Grindland. "Those 10 hits definitely contributed to our win; our team was crushing the ball."
However, in the bottom of the sixth inning EMS's luck began to change. Three runs in the sixth put them just one point behind CES. The last inning became a battle to become the overall winner.

Unfortunately, EMS's luck wore off, losing to CES by one run.

"It was a good season, we had a great year," said EMS coach Jon Schreiber. "We will definitely return next year, hopefully we will do just a little bit better."
